I saw that Dynocom Opened a USA location - tell me more...

In August 2006—Dynocom opened our 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art technical center. Dynocom Industries Inc Fort Worth location is the United States Headquarters. Texas is the perfect location with the DFW hub and easy access for our international and domestic customers.

“This location is great step forward for Dynocom Industries. We need to be where our customers are and Fort Worth, Texas as our American headquarters is a perfect place to be. How do I select the right chassis dynamometer size?

Yes and No. The Max HP & traction depends on the rolls surface (area and profile). Dynocom’s X-Cut machined knurled surface provides greater traction and HP levels than rolls that are much larger. However, very small rolls ( i.e. < 12” Diameter ) cannot provide adequate traction for high HP, as they do not allow a suitable contact patch with the tire.

A LARGER DIAMETER ROLL HAS MORE INERTIA

Not necessarily true. It depends on many factors – some being material mass, roll construction/design, roll length, and material thickness.

A DUAL/CRADLE CHASSIS DYNAMOMETER IS BETTER

A cradle type chassis dynamometer is well suited for low HP applications and emissions testing. However, they cannot provide the traction levels of large single roll dynamometers and their repeatability usually suffers due to the increased tire-to-roll deformation between the dual rollers.

HIGH INERTIAL CHASSIS DYNAMOMETERS HIDE & DAMPEN THE RESULTS

This depends on the overall system design, electronics, software etc. The resolution of the roll speed sensor, load cell A/D resolution, RPM pickup and software as well as the mechanical design all play an important roll in analyzing the data. Hence, high inertia systems with high resolution electronic sensors can magnify the data to be analyzed which can offset the inertia dampening effects.

How do you switch AWD primary/secondary w/out cable swap?

To do this you press the SETUP button on the handheld until you get to the screen AWD. You can then press the “.” button to electrically swap the JBOX positions. I.E. The front roller will behave as a rear roller and the rear will behave as a front.

Do you take Credit Cards?

Yes! We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
For VISA, M/C and Discover there is a 2% convenience fee for AMEX it is 3.5% for any order over $1000.00

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept wire transfers, company checks, personal checks. We also are happy to provide financing through our leasing company – for an application please see the downloads page.

Why are your systems so much less than the competition?

Dynocom builds all the expensive components in-house and does not rely on third party companies for electronics or software. Competitor’s may claim they build their own components only to hide the fact that many of their components are overpriced off the shelf parts – for example Dynocom designs and manufactures all of our own pressure/humidity/temperature modules (Weather stations) for a quarter of the cost of the off the shelf module that the competitors use. Our sensors is also more accurate!

Dynocom does not upsell or provide you with the computer system that competitors force you pay thousands of dollars for. We give you the option to purchase directly from the OEM computer manufactures with the required specifications.

Dynocom’s mechanicals are designed from the ground up in such a way that the unit is stronger than conventional designs and it is less costly to manufacturer. Not only do our shafts support higher axle loads than the competitors, they also support higher speeds. The X Cut knurl is also design for superior traction.

Answers to your questions about our products

Can I use any type of Reflective tape?

No. Dynocom’s optical sensors must be used with part number T-5 reflective tape. The reflective tape is rated to 175°F or higher temperature tape may be purchased up to 500°F. Contact sales to purchase addtional tape.

Can you tell me more about the X Cut Knurl?

I have heard that the X Cut knurl tears up tires – is that true?
Absolutely not, in fact it is quite the opposite – we have had 1100+HP vehicles on the roll from a dead stop there has been no tire slippage and no rubber.
The competition may run it down – only because we are the only dynamometer company in the world to offer this feature (and option – you can add this knurl to any roll diameter).
The most important feature of a dyno is the traction, if you are slipping or “smoking the tires” on the dyno then you are not measuring. Traction is the same as a clutch – if you are not engaging you are not measuring.
The design of the X Cut knurl allows for superior cooling to the tires – 30% greater than the competition.

Chassis Dynamometers VS POD's

Pro’s and Con’s

Pod style dynamometers provide a different set of features than traditional roller style dynamometers and are neither superior or inferior to them. Various styles of dynamometers have a place in the industry.

If you want a dynamometer that is easy to use and can test most vehicles without much effort in hooking up the vehicle to the dyno and is expecially suited for special events, like dyno-days, than a roller style chassis dynamometer is the preferable choice. Large roller style chassis dynamometers with a machined traction surface are also superior for very high power applications than POD style dynomometers. The weakest link in a traditional roller chassis dynamometer is usually the restraining straps and tire to roller contact patch. Thus, in the event of a restraining strap breakage, other straps are used for redundancy. The extent of mechanical damage is usually limited to a tire blowout.

If space and portability are the number one concern and vehicle setup time is less critical, than the POD style is the leader. However, PODs require multiple hub to wheel adapters to hook up to the vehicle. Thus, removing wheels, installing hubs, and aligning up the POD is fairly time consuming versus traditional style dynamometers. The weakest link in a POD style dynamometer is usually the hub to wheel adapters which have size constraints to allow mating to the wheel flange. Thus, mechanical failure or incorrect alignment due to user error may lead to vehicle damage to driveline components.

Dynocom supplies you with the MALE Hubbell plug. The customer needs to supply the FEMALE connector body (catalog # HBL2621) available at Home Depot and Lowes. Rated for 30 Amps

What is the part # for the analogue input connector?

If you have 4 channels the Manufacturer Part Number is 1727650000

For the 8 channel it is Manufacturer Part Number 1727690000

What is the part number for the Female Plug on a 5000 Series

Dynocom supplies you with the MALE Hubbell plug. The customer needs to supply the FEMALE connector body (catalog # HBL2323) available at Home Depot and Lowes. Rated for 20-25 Amps

What isn't included in a Dynocom System?

The only items that are upgrades to the system are eddy brakes for steady state testing, lift system (above ground operation) and pit covers (in-ground systems). we do not include pit covers in the standard price since the system may be configured for an above ground application.

What oxygen sensors comes with your Wideband Air Fuels?

Our Wideband Air Fuel system comes standard with an NTK sensor which is superior to the Bosch. However you can interchange the two sensors.
For replacements sensors the parts numbers are as follows:

Can I pick up my Dyno from Dynocom?

Sure! We are always happy to have our customers come and pick up their units Fort Worth, Texas USA or from one of our authorized distributors.

Do I need a forklift to unload my dyno?

Yes! Depending on the model that you have selected a minimum of a 5000 lbs capacity lift is required.

1500, 1800S & 1800X series = 5000 lbs forklift
2400X & 3000 series= 6000 lbs forklift

To ease shipment Dynocom tries to ship on an open deck carrier which make unloading easier than a box trailer.

All about sales tax, shipping tax and insurance

Do I need special insurance for my dyno?

Each customer is responsible for checking with their insurance agency on what is required to run a dynamometer at their facility. We can provide our customers with a dynamometer user waiver which they can furnish to their customers to sign. Contact your customer service agent or salesperson for more details.

Do I pay tax?

You pay tax if you are purchasing a dynamometer in the State of Texas.

As well if you are an international company you are responsible for all taxes, duties and fees associated with the importation of the dyno into your country.
